Real Madrid have announced the signing of German international Antonio Rudiger on a free from Chelsea.
The 29-year-old has signed a 4 year contract, reportedly earning £340,000 a week, a substantial increase from his salary at Chelsea which was £230,000.
Real Madrid had some fierce competition for Rudiger’s signing, with top clubs like Manchester United, PSG, Barcelona and Juventus all interested.
Rudiger joined Chelsea from Roma 5 years ago and in that time he’s helped Chelsea win the Champions League, FA Cup, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Rudiger, however, will be remembered for his spell under Thomas Tuchel where he became one of the best defenders in the world playing left of a back three – it will be interesting to see if he caan replicate that form playing in a back 4 under Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
