Frenkie De Jong to Man Utd proving difficult

Manchester United’s strong interest in Frenkie De Jong is widely reported. While Man Utd fans are excited about this prospect, it seems that the deal is not likely to happen.

Ten Hag wants De Jong to be the orchestrator in midfield, having previously worked together at Ajax between 2017 and 2019.

De Jong’s eye catching performances led Ajax to a Champions League semi-final, which ultimately earnt him a £75m move to Barcelona, his dream club.

Playing for Barca was his dream – which is why he isn’t willing to move unless he is forced out.

Barcelona may have to sell given their financial situation, but Man Utd are going through a rebuild where they need to sign many players and ultimately spending £75m on one player may not be viable.
