Messi’s Argentina win the first ever UEFA Cup of Champions final

Messi led Argentina to a win against Italy in the first ever UEFA Cup of Champions, branded ‘Finalissima’.

The new competition sees the champions of Europe, in this case Italy, take on the champions of South America, Argentina.

Argentina cruised to a 3-0 victory where Italy never got going. Goals from Lautaro Martinez, Angel Di Maria and a late goal from sub Paulo Dybala.

However, the star of the show was Lionel Messi. He played a game which resembled peak Messi and the Italians simply could not cope. The Wembley crowd were treated to a spectacle.

Argentina have now gone 32 international games unbeaten, only 4 games behind the record set by the team they defeated today – Italy
