Goals and Expected Goals (xG) numbers can often be skewed by the number of chances that are created. The more chance that are created, the more likely it is a player will accumulate higher number of goals and xG.
To assess a player’s shooting efficiency, let’s look at xG over-performance which tells us how many goals a player scored compared to how many they were expected to score.
The calculation for this is Non-Penalty Goals – Non Penalty xG.
